The association currently has various vacant positions that require volunteers:
LWSR and Benchrest Secretary/s:
To enable us to run both LWSR and Benchrest competition leagues, we need a Secretary to run either or both disciplines. The post/s would require the Secretary to set up and run both Winter & Summer local Team & Individual leagues, organise an annual County Championship, either postal or shoulder to shoulder, and select county teams to participate in National competitions.
Unfortunately, without any volunteer/s the association will not be able to run any competitions in these disciplines.
County Coaches:
Coaches are sort to support shooters in Essex in all disciplines we represent and run competitions for.
The association will help individuals gain the County Coach qualification, once they have obtained the qualifications to progress to county level, providing a commitment is given to support shooters around the county.
Anyone wishing to take up either of the positions above or seek more information, please use Contact Us form.

Latest Update: 4th June 2024: A summer 20y / 50m combined LAP / LBP /Air Pistol competition announced........Click to view all news
4th June 2024: Essex have today advertised a 20y / 50m combined pistol summer league. A reduced five round league is to be run, with the main aim of just getting club shooters to have an official Essex average, to try and make a full winter league fair to all as the competition will initially be run outside NSRA rules with any pistol, anysights, single or double handed allowed. Depending on the entries received it is hoped that two competitions will be run this winter, an ‘open pistol’ competition for Essex shooters and a NSRA rules competition offered to shooters nationally.
The entry form has been sent to club officials and can be found under the 'Competitions' heading. Entries close 1 July 2024.
Jan 2024: Following consultation with affiliated clubs, a proposal has been made to run an initial comp this winter to establish individual averages before starting a comp / league this summer. Due to the lack of individuals participating in pistol shooting, it is proposed to run two competitions concurrently. A Free pistol / .177/.22 air pistol competition under NSRA rules and a combined Longarm/Long Barrel pistol competition run using any type of .22 pistol with anysights. Scoring would be local with possible email confirmation to a central scorer. Any club who didn't respond to the initial survey and is now interested in shooting pistol, please contact the LBP Secretary using the websites email contact.
12 Feb 2022: Geoff Webb has been appointed as LBP Secretary to run the section. Affiliated clubs will be contacted in the near future to gather information from clubs and shooters on their interest in participating in a County league, County Championship and NSRA Inter County league.
11th September 2021: Information from clubs and shooters on their interest in participating in competitions organised by the county is still awaited. Before any competitions can be organised, information on what club facilities are available for Pistol shooting, re distances and what their shooters shoot.
